Abortion Threat To Ireland Reported in America.

A pro life lawyer has identified the serious threat threat the new Draft Guidelines issued by the Department of Health  pose to the Unborn in the North of Ireland.

This is just one instance of how liberal the new guidelines intend to make the  interpretation of the law here in the North.

Partial Birth Abortion May Soon Be a Reality In Northern Ireland. June 22, 2007Under new Guidelines on Abortion (click here) being considered by the Department of Health under the new minister Mr Michael McGimpsey, there will be a loophole in the current law which, if used to its full extent will allow for the horror of partial birth abortion. For all ordinary people who haven’t yet heard of this horror, it’s a process whereby a child is aborted (read “murdered”) as it is being born. If you think this is too horrific even for abortionists to stoop too, it has been going on in America for years.Recently the Americans have passed a Bill stopping Partial Birth Abortion. However as this Bill states that babies can’t be aborted if they have been born “Past the navel” or head first “Past the Chin” it is now emerging that abortion doctors may be discovering new, and even more terrible ways of disposing of these children without breaking the law.

“The pain of the partial birth abortion ban”

“Pro-lifers opposing the partial birth abortion ban say it will force abortionists to commit more torturous abortions, and this may be true. Whereas the ban prohibits breech abortions of babies delivered past the navel and head-first abortions of babies delivered past the chin, some pro-lifers say abortionists will now simply deliver a baby’s legs and rip them off before proceeding, or deliver the baby almost to the navel and disembowel the baby, etc. One pro-life group opposing the partial birth abortion ban wrote in an Open Letter to Dr. James Dobson two weeks ago (emphasis theirs): The [Supreme Court] Justices raise the likelihood that with this [PBA ban] ruling, the fetus faces greater brutality. On page 30, the Justices note the objection “that the standard D&E is in some respects as brutal, if not more, than the intact D&E [PBA].” (from Pro Life Blogs)

Why do I assert that this could happen in Northern Ireland, And therefore IRELAND, under the new proposed draft guidelines from our Department of Health (hereinafter to be referred to as the Department of Hell by O’Donnell)?”

We really need to wake up to this issue here in Ireland. The Association of Catholic Lawyers will soon be posting a full review of the proposed guidelines on this site.

Process Begins In Westminster To Introduce Bill Which May Result In Abortion In Ireland.

The Joint Committee on the Draft Human Tissue and Embryo Bill met today to start discussions around the proposed bill. The Bill (click here) is presently in draft form and mainly deals with issues unrelated to Northern Ireland as the substantive act (HSE 1990) is not in place here.

The Association of Catholic Lawyers today spoke with Westminster personell and are informed that the date for closing the consultation (click here) on this issue is 26th June. Written submissions from the public or interested parties can be sent to htedraftbill@parliament.uk  .

It is expected that the Committee will report to Parliament by the end of June and that the Government will publish its response to the proposed Bill thereafter. By November the Bill should be endorsed and ready to go to Parliament to be voted on by the end of the year.

Although there seems to be no specific mention of extending abortion to Northern Ireland in the draft Bill, at section 24 (page 92) under Schedules it states “Consequential ammendments for Northern Ireland will be included prior to the introduction of the Bill to Parliament.” Considering that our assembly was sitting on the 8th May and this draft was released at the end of May its surprising to see this statement.

The legal foundation for the proposal to add a provision to extend the Abortion Act to Northern Ireland is unclear and we are investigating this.

The MPs are using the opportunity of this Bill, which isn’t substantively about abortion, to discuss the matter of abortion. Pro Life MPs such as Anne Widecome and Jim Dobbins will be using the opportunity to tighten the law, whilst pro abortion MPs such as Evan Harris are aiming to liberalise abortion to “on demand” as well as allegedly introduce it to the North of Ireland.

Breaking News – Abortion Law Threat From Westminster

The Association of Catholic Lawyers will be seeking to make legal representations to the Government requiring that they acknowladge the right of ALL the unborn children of this island under the Irish Constitution.

There will be more news on this as the matter progresses. However the move is in response to the proposed ammendment to the Abortion Act 1967 in Westminster, England. Pro Abortion politicians in Westminster are seeking to override the democratic will of the Catholic and Protestant people of the North of Ireland by forcing through an extention of the Act to include the North.
